Spouse: (m. 2 September 1963) Michael Henry Warner (1939–2011), physicist and marine engineer. Elucidated the mechanisms of cell interaction and communication that pattern the early embryo. Contributed crucial discoveries in the fields of muscle physiology, cellular differentiation and gap junction communication. First to apply electrophysiological techniques to developmental problems and has made notable contributions in a number of areas including an important analysis of the role of gap junctions. Distinguished for her elegant studies of the cell physiology of early development, especially of the amphibian nervous system. Demonstrated a central role for the sodium pump both in the formation of the blastocoel and in the differentiation of neurones and with O.F.
