The family mercantile company, Manning &amp; Anderdon, owned sugar plantations in the Caribbean, which used enslaved people for labour. Following the Slavery Abolition Act 1833, Anderdon claimed compensation for enslaved people at his Seaforths estate in Antigua [Waladli or Wadadli]. In 1835, he was compensated for his claim for over £2,400 on 180 enslaved people. </OtherInfo>
