Physician Anatomy Education: Bologna; Venice, where he was taught by his uncle, a canon of the San Marco basilica Career: Dissector in Anatomy Theatre, Venice; Public Lecturer in Anatomy, Venice; Prior of the Academy of Surgeons, Venice; refused chairs at Padua and Pisa Memberships: Accademia Dondonea (one of the founders); Accademia de' Gelati di Bologna; Accademia della Crusca, Florence; Accademia dei Curiosi di Norimberga Parents: Stefano Gandolfi and Pellegrina Gandolfi Grandi's anatomical lectures were well-received and were published in 1671. He describes anatomy as a combination of multiple branches of knowledge alongside physical and mathematical, including architecture, music, and theology. Later in life, Grandi also developed an interest in the fine arts and in palaeontology, on which he also published his research. With his high position in the Venetian medical world, he also became correspondents with Marcello Malpighi (FRS 1669) and Robert Boyle (FRS 1663). He remained inactive in the Royal Society's after his election.
