Career: Deputy Postmaster (1667) Not much is known about Andrew Ellis' personal and professional life outside his role at the Royal Society and despite being regularly consulted on legal matters by the Society, there are no records of his activities in court or another legal environment. Ellis' role as deputy postmaster meant his acting in the interests of one of the postmasters, Lord Berkeley. He was previously elected on 14 August 1661 and admitted into the Society on 21 August 1661. Hunter gives death date as 1672. He may be the Ellis who was Vicar of East Walton, Norfolk (1626-1673).
