He has been Head of Designs and research departments and among other things has been involved in the application of digital techniques for transmission and studio applications. He proposed the Teletext data broadcasting system and has many patents of general application. He has also been very active in professional and international committees of the IEE and the EBU, and was Chairman of the EBU Working Party V (New Technology).
