Soldier; Merchant Career: Fought on the Royalist side in the Civil War; exiled (1649-1660); agent of the Eastland Company in Danzig whilst abroad; Searcher of the Port of Newcastle (1660); in the service of the Admiralty; Steward for Sick and Wounded Seamen (1664); owned a tanning works in Limerick; member of the Newcastle Merchants Company Parents: Garrett Cock Married: 1) Anna Maria Solomons; 2) Mary ? Children: John Cock; George Cock; Matthew Cock; William Cock As a support of the king during the Civil Wars, he was arrested in 1643, released in exchange for a parliamentary prisoner, but then re-captured at the siege of Newcastle in 1644. He was an experienced and respected merchant and appears frequently in Samuel Pepys' (FRS 1663) diary.
