Laboratory assistant at the biochemistry department of the Lister Institute (c. 1942-1975); began a lifelong collaboration with Walter Morgan, biochemist (FRS 1949) (1943); reader in biochemistry, University of London (1965); professor in biochemistry, University of London (1968); upon closure of the Lister Institute, moved to Northwick Park, where the Medical Research Council established a division of immunochemical genetics, with her as its head (1975); upon closure of Northwick Park, she continued her work in the haematology department at Hammersmith Hospital (1989-2000); suffered a stroke (c. 2002); died of pneumonia following a second stroke.
