Ashes scattered in a field at Bletchington, Oxfordshire, England. Memberships: Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences National Academy of Sciences (foreign associate) Parents: Carl Frederick (later Charles Frederick) Askonas (1893–1946) and Rose, née Fürth (1891–1980). Distinguished for her studies on the mechanism of the synthesis of immunoglobulins and on the immunological function of antigens in macrophages. Made important investigations of the fate of antigens within macrophages and of their immunogenic activity.
