Physician Education: ?Trinity College, Dublin (BA 1649); Merton College, Oxford (MA 1652); Incorporated at Cambridge (1655); Padua (MD 1663) Career: Fellow of Merton (1649); practised in Dublin; Donegal Lecturer at Trinity College, Dublin (1692) Memberships: Fellow of the Irish College of Physicians (1667; President in 1676); Dublin Philosophical Society Parents: Sir Francis Willoughby, governor of Galway Willughby enjoyed a lucrative practive in Dublin and was also particularly active in the Dublin Philosophical Society, where he presented numerous papers, and was on the Society's committee to draw up rules in 1684. He also wrote on the Dublin Bills of Mortality in 1691, which was related to the topic of 'political arithmetic', something John Graunt (FRS 1663) and William Petty (FRS 1660) were particularly interested in. He was inactive in the Royal Society and only paid his admission fee after his election. Hoppen in DIB says on admission to Oxford in 1649 he is stated as being 'of Trinity College Dublin'. TCD has no names recorded in its entrance book between 1644 and 1652.
