Physician Anatomy Career: Professor of Anatomy at The Hague; Professor of Anatomy and Surgery at Leyden (1694); Physician to William III, who died in his arms (1701-1702); returned to Holland; known as a poet Parents: Govert Bidloo and Maria, daughter of Lammart Felzers, Inspector of the Collegium Medicum of Amsterdam Siblings: Lambert Bidloo (1638-1724) His Anatomia Hvmani Corporis (Dutch: Ontleding des menschelyken lichaams) (1690) described fingerprints, laying the foundation for forensic science. The work was plagiarised by English surgeon William Cowper (FRS 1696) for his Anatomy of the Humane Bodies (1698).
