He also conducted multiple public experiments. Despite his scholarly and clerical career, Ashe is often most remembered as Jonathan Swift's teacher at Trinity College and the role he played in the alleged secret marriage between Swift and Esther Johnson, known as Stella. After his death, Ashe's mathematical books were left to Trinity College.
