Mathematician and expert on braille Career: Taught mathematics at Trinity; went blind after being struck down by influenza, and learnt to master the braille typewriter and translated a number of mathematical works, devising in so doing methods of braille notation for mathematics diagrams. Established the Embossed Scientific Book fund to support the expense of these publications.
