Memberships: British Parasitological Society (Founder Member; President 1961) Parents: James Kimberley Bishop, furniture maker, and Eileen, daughter of George Ginger, builder. Distinguished for her work on cytology, life-history and cultivation of free-living and parasitic Protozoa. Studied drug resistance in Plasmodium. Opened a new field of research in the physiology of malarial parasites. Studied parasitic amoebae and examined potential chemotherapies for the treatment of amoebic diseases including amoebic dysentery. A memorial plaque was erected in the chapel at Girton College.
