entomologist Entomology Education: Highgate School (1867-1874); DM (Oxford); MA Career: Held a Demonstratorship in Physiology at University College, London (1880-1883); returned to Oxford with John-Scott Burdon Sanderson (FRS 1867) (1883); elected Wills Medical Fellow of Wadham (1885); successively becoming Science Tutor, Junior Bursar (1891-1906); and Bursar (1906-27); succeeded H. P. Richards as Sub-Warden, holding the position along with the Burarship until his Fellowship expired (1927); elected Emeritus Fellow and later Honorary Fellow; elected to the Board of Curators of the Hope Collections at Oxford (1901) retiring after reaching the age limit in 1932; killed by a motorist whilst crossing Park Lane, London, sustaining a fracture to the skull and jaw.
