John Wyche; Bernard Wyche; Peter Wyche; George Wyche Wyche was a successful diplomat and during his posts in Europe, he was actively involved in foreign affairs and conflict of the time. While at Hamburg, there was a threat to Hamburg's sovereignity from Denmark and Celle throughout which Wyche tried to maintain the English trading interests. He and Gabriel Sylbius (James II's ambassador to Denmark) are partially credited with negotiating a settlement after the Danish Siege of Hamburg in 1686. During the Glorious Revolution of 1688, he supported King James, which subsequently resulted in him giving up his diplomatic duties and living out the rest of his life in obscurity.
