Merchant Career: English Consul at Livorno [Leghorn] in Tuscany; commissioner for victualling the Mediterranean fleet Honours: Kt 1669 Parents: James [or Josias] Clutterbuck and Margaret Colston Married: Martha Swanley Clutterbuck was fairly successful as a naval agent, in particular relating to victualling, i.e. the supply of food to the navy. The port of Livorno was a convenient location for English ships entering the Mediterranean. He was inactive in the Royal Society's work prior to his expulsion.
