Physician Education: MA (University of St Andrew's); Paris; Montpellier; Valence (MD 1657); Incorporated doctor of physic at Oxford (1660) Career: Physician to the Duke and Duchess of York; travelled abroad; practised in Edinburgh Memberships: Candidate, College of Physicians (1660) Parents: Andrew Bruce Married: Rachel Hamilton Bruce had originally intended to study for his medical degree in Padua, however the spread of the plague prevented him from travelling there and he proceeded to study at Valence. Not much is known about Bruce's personal life or his career as a physician. His practice in Edinburgh is said to have enjoyed a good reputation up until the 1690s. Proposed on 13 May 1663 and ejected due to non-payment of arrears in 1675.
