This describes Roman remains found in Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Somerset. As a member of the Oxford Philosophical Society, a gathering of natural philosophers, mathematicians, and physicians started by John Wilkins (FRS 1663), Musgrave was possibly acquainted with figures such as William Petty (FRS 1660) and John Wallis (FRS 1663). Musgrave was buried outside the city walls and believed that burial within the city would be harmful to the living population.
