Title | Letter from [William George] Armstrong, Cragside, Rothbury, to [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, 66 Victoria [Street], London, S.W |
Creator | Armstrong; William George (1810 - 1900); Baron Armstrong of Cragside; armaments manufacturer and industrialist |
Date | 9 June 1891 |
Description | Informs he received a note from Mr [Alfred] Apps advising him of the dispatch of the coils. Apps also stated "when many of the coils of the ammeter shows more than 15 to each coil a temporary spiral of no 14 iron wire could be employed but unless more than 6 cells are used no danger can arise". Requests that when Swinton next sees Apps, to ask what danger he contemplates if an iron spiral was ever to be used, how and where it is to be applied. States he understands that fine wire is sufficient but questions what harm does Apps apprehend from using stronger wire as he does not see how it can affect the action of the secondary coils. |
