Title | Letter from [William George] Armstrong, Cragside, Rothbury, to [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, 66 Victoria [Street], London, S.W |
Creator | Armstrong; William George (1810 - 1900); Baron Armstrong of Cragside; armaments manufacturer and industrialist |
Date | 12 July 1891 |
Description | Acknowledges receipt of previous correspondence and informs the glasses have arrived. With regard to the anomalous behavious of his Rhumkorffs, he thinks the interferences lie in the battery current and not in the secondary currents, explains his reasoning and asks Swinton if he can see any fallacy in it. Proposes to remedy it by using two independent sets of small cells instead of any one set of large cells, maintaining he will not act upon this view without further experimentation, but if Swinton thinks his suggested explanation is feasible, he would feel obliged if Swinton would request a supply of cells from Drake & Gorham. |
