Discusses his work on Cathode Ray Furnaces in detail, and encloses the discourse at the Royal Institution; one of his previous papers "On the Luminosity of the Rare Earths when heated in Vacuo by means of Cathode Rays"; as well as a paper by Sir Charles Parsons and himself on "The Conversion of Diamonds into Coke in High Vacuum by Cathode Rays". Offers to lend Petavel the furnace, if he wishes to try it at the National Physical Laboratory.
