Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to the Admiral of the Fleet, Sir Henry [Bradwardine] Jackson, G. C. B., K. C. V. O., F. R. S. |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 20 June 1921 |
Description | Sending a further note on the additional experiments he made with a frame contained in a copper box, which he hopes Jackson deems worth circulating among the members of the Atmospherics and Directional Committees. Comments that Sir Oliver Lodge believes they are worth publishing. Does not feel it is appropriate to publish anything until he is granted permission to do so by the Department and enquires if Jackson is aware of any objections. Opines that the chief importance in these experiments is the fact that one obtains signals just as well when the open side of the box is pointing directly away from the source of the waves as when it is pointing towards the source, which he feels is a little surprising. |
