Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell Swinton], Wellington Club, Grosvenor Place, S. W., to Alice [Susan Lucy Campbell] Swinton, Seton Castle, Longniddry |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 9 July 1893 |
Description | Reports he saw very little of Thursday's proceedings [in celebration of the Wedding of Prince George and Princess Victoria Mary] as it was very hot and busy. Refers to enclosures featuring two photographs, describing a view from the cornice outside the windows of his sitting room in Jermyn Street, passing down St James' street on their way to the wedding ceremony [enclosures not present]. Describes his experience of seeing some of the evening illuminations, commenting on the large crowds. Discusses arrangements he is hoping to make for an engineer friend. Informs he has just returned from leaving a book at the Imperial Institute with George [Sitwell Campbell Swinton]. Glad to hear Alice is getting on so well at Seton. |
