| Description | Paper by Sarton regarding his design for a new regulator for use in astronomical clocks that would mitigate the effect of temperature and air on the clock's function. On final page verso is an upside-down graphite inscription reading '[John] Ellicot pendulum 35 years ago'. A manuscript note in ink pasted to this page reads 'See a paper of Ellicot in Phil Trans on pendulums...' and below 'Abstract of my answer: All is known to our workmen and much already published by Mr Ellicot. The R S do not give an opinion [...?] give back your paper'.
