Title | Unpublished paper and letters, 'Some farther remarks on the means of procuring a steady light in coal mines without the danger of explosion' by W [William] Reid Clanny |
Date | November 1815 - January 1816 |
Description | This paper is a continuation of Clanny's paper published in volume 103 of Philosophical Transactions titled 'On the means of procuring a steady light in coal mines without the danger of explosions'. Clanny details his improvements on his previous invention of a safety lamp, now designed in such a way that if the bulb of the lamp is 'upset' in any way, the flame will be immediately extinguished. This is followed by a letter from Clanny to an unknown recipient, intended as an appendix to the paper, then an account of a trial of Clanny's lamp and a follow-up letter from Clanny to William Allen.
