Description | Have just returned from their Northern expedition, gives an account of their travels Burleigh, Thoresby, Dukery, Hardwick, the West Riding of Yorkshire, Kirkby Lonsdale and Lancaster, the Lake District, Corby. Travelled to Scotland and visited Admiral Eliot, Lord Mentor. Stayed in the New Town in Edinburgh and saw Mr and Mrs Stewart, Count Rumford, Professor Playfair and Professor Hope. Travelled on to Inverary via Stirling and Glasgow, Dumbarton, Loch Lomond, Loch Lory and Loch Fine. Returned via Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton House, Lanark and Edinburgh. Stayed with the Duke of Buccleuch at Dalkeith. Settled Harry at the Stewarts in Edinburgh two or three days before lectures started. Returned via Dunglass visiting Alnwick, Durham, York, Cambridge and Audley End accompanied by Count Rumford. Gives news of Sir Joseph Banks. Also gives news of Sloane who is making the best of the marriage of his 19 year old son to a lady 10 years older. |
