Description | Greenhill asks for Schuster's guidance in applying for a Government Grant, since the diagrams from his paper on electromagnetic integrals deserves recognition. Two were drawn by Colonel Hippersley R.E., after heavy calculation and Greenhill has preserved these. They should be adopted at once in a treatise on hydrodyamics, showing the real flow of liquid around an elliptic cylinder. The third drawing is a redrawing by J.W. Hicks of a figure by Maxwell on lines of magnetic force. Should these receive recognition he will persuade Hippersley to go on to complete figure XVIII, explaining how useful this would be. Greenhill is under the impression that an application should be forwarded by Sectional Committee 1. Mathematics.
