Description | Reporting that the committees in charge of the Meteorological and Magnetic Observations had made arrangements for work towards the publication of the Antarctic observations. A copy of a Meteorological Council minute for 19 October [see CD/117/5] was presented. It was reported that the cost of the Magnetic work had been under-estimated and the Royal Society will need to cover a further £300 for the work. Includes details of the intended design and size of the pages for publication.
Professor Milne will be asked to undertake work on the seismological results. Atmospheric electricity and aurorae observations will be dealt with by the Meteorological Office, supervised by C T R Wilson. Gravity observations will be worked up by the National Physical Laboratory.
Council resolved to add Lieutenant Royds, Mr Ferrar and J Y Buchanan to the Committee on Meteorology. The Society agreed to cover the additional Magnetic costs, and to cover £60 for the natural history specimens. With some pencil notes in the margin. |
