TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society, to Sir Thomas Holland
Date28 May 1925
DescriptionApologises that he did not get to meet Sir Thomas Holland to discuss the matter [of Meghnad Saha's candidature]. Informs Holland that the principal supporters of the candidate in question [Saha] do not wish to withdraw their signatures. Also points out that if the Coucil now discusses the matter then it will not be helpful, as they will not be the same Council as the one concerned in the next Fellowship election. Asks if he should take the letter and report to the next Council, under conditions of secrecy.
