Title | Copy letter from Sir Archibald Geikie, Secretary of the Royal Society, to Professor [John Bretland] Farmer |
Date | 22 May 1906 |
Description | Encloses the original letter sent by Mr [Charles] Walker [CD/30/4]. Informs Professor [John Bretland] Farmer that the President and Officers of the Royal Society have come to the conclusion that Walker's letter contained 'a grave and libellous reflection upon the moral character of the staff in this Office'. Cannot see that Walker's later letters contain any withdrawal or apology for this. Expresses that the issue 'leaves a very painful impression on my mind'.
