Title | Letter from Edwin Ray Lankester, 44 Oakley Street, Chelsea, to [William Bate] Hardy, Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 31 May 1921 |
Description | He has no information as to limitations on elible persons or to salaries offered, with regard to the Tata Professorships. Lankester notes that nearly all applicants are colonial, Indian, or American residents. He asks if this is because the posts were not advertised in British universities and professional bodies. He thinks they should be promoted again. He has not seen advertisements and he reads 'Nature' carefully. He is unable to attend the next Tropical Diseases Committee meeting.
With a note initialled by Francis Towle: 'The advertisement was inserted in: Times; Nature; BMJ; Lancet'. |
