Description | Ward writes: 'Upon the fourth of April, 1734, a curious draught of an antient [ancient] date carved in an oaken plank, at Widgel-Hall, the seat of Francis Gulston, Esq; was laid before an assembly of the Royal Society, as the most early instance of our common figures, usually called Arabian, which had ever been observed in England.'
