' The letter of Mr Stewart addressed to the President, was read, together with the documents which accompanied it.
The following were agreed upon as the principal objects to which the Committee should direct their enquiries viz.; 1. The actual state of the works and drawings relating to the Engine, the probable cost of what has been done; and whether the money already laid out has been expended judiciously. 2. The adequacy of the contrivances and workmanship to the accomplishment of the objects proposed. 3. The relative proportion between what has been accomplished and what remains 4. The relative progress of the calculating and of the printing parts 5. The probable time requisite for the completion of the machine 6. The probable further expenditure necessary for its completion. '
