1. Terms of Reference It was noted that the terms of reference, as approved by Council on 4 April 1963, are to assist in the international planning and to consider means of financial support, on the understanding that when the IBP reaches a more precise stage, the provisional committee would give way to a National Committee to co-ordinate United KIngdom participation in the programme.

3. Informal meeting held on 10 January 1963 The Committee took note of a report [IBP/6 (63)] of an informal meeting of UK scientists already concerned with the IBP which had been held in the Royal Society on 10 January 1963.
