Matters discussed;
1. Chairmanship
Mr T Smith was invited to take the chair and it was
Resolved - that it bne recommended that Mr T Smith be appointed chairman of teh Optical Sub-committee and Dr E Linfoot deputy chairman.

2. Constitution and Terms of Reference
The Constitution of the Optical Sub-committee of the British National Committee for Physics was reported as follows;
Professor R W Ditchburn; Mr H M Emsley; Dr H H Hopklins; Dr E Linfoot; Professor L C Martin; Profesooer H Moore; Mr A J Philpot; Mr E W H Selwyn; Mr T Smith; Mr E W Tylor; Mr F Twyman; Dr W D Wright; Mr C G Wynne and a member appointed by the biological interests in optics.

The followoing terms of reference of the suc-committee were also reported;
' To act through the National Committee for Physics in matters connected with the International Optical Commission. '

Suggestions were invited as to the member to be appointed by the Royal Society to represent biological interests in optics and it was agreed that the following names be put forwqard; Dr B H C Matthews; Professor H Hartridge.

It was agreed that the nest meeting of the Sub-committee be held in approximately 2 months time.
