Read; 1. the Minute appointing the Committee 28 October 1869; 2. a letter from Colonel Strange, FRS Inspector of Scientific Instruments for the Government of India, to the President, on the subject of establishing Standard Instruments for determining Atmospheric Pressure and Temerature, of 16 June 1869; 3. letter from Professor Miller to Professor Stokes; 4. letter from Colonel Strange to Captain Richards; 5. paper of Mr Bailey cited by Colonel Strange, referring to the construction of instruments to be used for the Meteorological Observations published by the Royal Society, now discontinued.

Agreed a report to the Council. [Wording given] which concludes that the committee ' do not recommend the Council to appoint a Committee of the Royal Society for the purpose of considering the subject of National Barometrical and Thermometrical Standards. '
