It was greed to recommend to the Council of the Royal Society that Dr Allen's stipend shoudl be made up by the Society to £400 a year during his employment by the Air Ministry for so long a period as he would normally be in receipt of payment by the Royal Society as a Mond Laboratory research assistant. Agreed to write to Dr Pye asking that Income Tax should not be deducted at source.
9. The Committee considered that it was most desirable that the Royal Society should continue to assist the Laboratory by providing for the stipend of one or more members of the staff, but that in view of the war they would prefer to postpone a final recommendation of the pollicy to be adopted for one year.
