1. Minutes of the last Council read
2. Mr Birch reported an answer from Mr Dixon, dated 19 September 1760 from Cockfiled, agreeing to accompany Mr Mason and be under his direction in taking observations in India (at Bencoolen) according to the terms proposed by the Society, and it was resolved that he be employed
3. Mr Mason accepted the appointment as principal to Bencoolen [Bengkulu, Sumatra, Indonesia], and presented an estimate of expense [listed] which consideration of was postponed.
4. Resolved ' that Mr Birch to call upon Mr Ellicott, to enquire whether the timepiece last directed by the Council, can be got ready by the end of October; and if not, then to direct another that will be sufficient. ' |
