Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Society's solicitor was requested to take th eopinion of some eminent Chancery barrister on the most expedient course to be adopted in the suit of Ludlow vs. Stevenson. Letter from [James Wilson] Secretary of the Treasury, n.d., to the President of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: the Treeasury have been in communication with the Senate of the University of London on appropriation of rooms in Burlington House, and is now in a position to consider the application of Lord Wrottesley on behalf of the Royal and other societies for accommodation there; it would be desirable to discuss matters personally, by deputation on Tuesday next, in order to ascertain what arrangements might be parcticable. Letter from the President of the Geological Society transmitting a resolution of Council in reference to a similar communication: that the Presidents of the Linnean, Geological and Royal Astronomical Societies, with their Officers, be requested to meet the President and Officers of the Royal Society at Somerset House to consider the Treasury communication. List of candidates for Fellowship to be recommended to the Royal Society for election at the next meeting for that purpose. |
