Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting read and approved. The President stated that upon the application of Sir Francis Grant, he had given permission for the Royal Academy to have works of art intended for exhibition brought in by the front door of Burlington House, for that year only. Letter from the Faculty of Medicine in Prague, presenting a medal in honour of Professor J.E. Purkinje, Foreign Member, received with thanks. Letter from W.G. Romaine, Admiralty, 19 March 1869, to the President of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: Dr Carpenter and his assistants would be entertained aboard HMS Porcupine during the deep sea dredging expedition, at the Government's expense.
