Letter from Thomas Henry Huxley, Government School of Mines, Jermyn Street, 18 April 1861, to the Secretary of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: statement on his expenditure of the £300 Government Grant, including copper plates made by Mr. Basire, some not yet published. Letter from Sir John Herschel giving thanks for the supply of palladium granted to him. List of candidates selected to be recommended to the Fellowship for election. Letter from Mr. Weld, resigning as Assistant Secretary: the resignation accepted, with his salary to be paid until 30 November, in recognition of his long and valuable service; a committee appointed to address the vacancy. Letter from Sir George Everest in reference to publication of Colonel Lambton's survey of the southern Indian arc: Mr. Stokes to communicate with the Astronomer Royal on the subject. Letter from Mr. Horner returning a balance of £20 from the £50 Donation Fund Grant and £50 Government Grant allocated to him; the balance to be allotted to the Government Grant Fund.
