Report of the Committee on the vacant office of Assistant Secretary, full text entered into the minutes: recommending that Walter White succeed Charles Richard Weld, at a salary of £300 and apartments; a successor to Mr. White to be appointed. Dr. Carpenter and Mr. Gassiot requested use of the wood cut blocks for their papers on foraminifera and on electrical discharge, granted. Letter from F.R. Sandford, Secretary, International Exhibition of 1862, 26 April 1861, to the Secretary of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: on arrangements for the exhibition, including a committee on philosophical instruments and processes, requesting the assistance of Council; a letter to be written in reply, offering to render any assistance. £30 granted from the Donation Fund to W.K. Parker for his researches into foraminifera. The South Australia Institute of Adeliade to be placed on the list of institutions receiving the Proceedings, and an application from the Institution of Civil Engineers for numbers of Proceedings to complete their Library set.
