William Archer, Dr. Brandis and Captain Nares granted extensions for admission to the Fellowship. On the recommendation of the Library Committee, Trubner and Company to publish Philosophical Transactions papers in separate form, with advertising and conditions of sale: Eyre and Spottiswoode's estimate for binding in cloth boards with edges cut, to be accepted; grants of publications made to various institutions. Report of the Government Grant Committee in the form of minutes of the meeting of 10 June 1875, full text entered into the minutes: list of applicants discussed and grants for five applicants recommended provisionally, then confirmed. Candidates for the award of Royal Society medals proposed and seconded, with citations. Thanks given to Mr. Gassiot for his gift of a direct vision prism of high dispersal. Letter from Robert Hall, Admiralty, 5 June 1875, to the Secretary, the Royal Society, Burlington House, full text entered into the minutes: acknowledging Council's approval of the steps taken in forwarding instructions for scientific observations for the use of Captain Nares and the Arctic Expedition officers. Letter from the Academy of Sciences at Vienna, the reply to be that the diminution of water in British streams was to be the subject of inquiry by the Government. £50 to be placed at the disposal of the Naturalists' Committee for freight and incidental expenses. Officers empowered to spend up to £60 on hoses, hydrants and extinguishers for the Society's apartments. All books belonging to the Library to be returned by 31 July.
