List of candidates for Fellowship of the Royal Society to be recommended at the Annual Meeting: the Assistant Secretary to communicate the list to The Times. Letter and enclosures from the Astronomer Royal with regard to the Metrical Convention, hoping the matter might be considered by Council: Council considered it highly desirable that the country be represented at the International Commission of Weights and Measures, contributing the sum required and a deputation was to be made to the Treasury. Letter from the Secretary of the Zoological Society complaining that the Society did not receive volumes of the Challenger Reports: the reply to be that the Zoological Society was strongly recommended to receive copies, by the Lords of the Treasury had not accepted the Society on the list on institutions. Draft letter to the Treasury on the proposed bathymetrical survey of Scottish Lakes approved. Letter of thanks from the Danish Embassy for the gift of a bronze Davy Medal for the Royal Collections in Copenhagen. Leave granted to Mr. Romanes and to Professor Ayrton to have electrotypes of illustrations. A preliminary report of the Krakatoa Committee was read, noting that the £25 granted had almost been expended: a further £25 granted from general funds to meet expenses.
