| Description | Ring bound photograph album featuring both black and white and colour photographs, pasted on black paper. The images are captioned in white ink with short titles and place names, mostly dated but not arranged in chronological order throughout, with named individuals, as and when they appear. The first part of the album documents Wilkie’s time in the United States, whilst studying for his Rockefeller scholarship, which took him to Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, including photographs of various leisure trips, activities, and portraits of his friends. One page of passport photographs is included, images from a skiing trip, as well as a section titled “Retrospect” comprising photographs from a trip to Switzerland taken in Spring 1938. In addition, some postcards retained by Wilkie have been included. |
