Citation | Charles Douglas of New Burlington Street Esqr (who had the command of His Majesty's ship Emerald, when employed on the North of Europe, in the business of the late Transit of Venus; and has communicated to the Society, a series of curious experiments to determine the different degrees of cold at different depths in the Sea), is a Gentleman well acquainted with Philosophical and Polite Literature, and desirous of becoming a member of the Royal Society; Therefore We, whose names are hereunto subscribed, being well acquainted with him, do conceive him deserving of the honour he requests, and one who is likely to become an usefull Member |
