Description | Date stamp on reverse |
Citation | Distinguished for his researches in sedimentary Petrology, refractory materials, and the geology of East Anglia and North Wales. His work on sedimentary Petrology has shown how heavy residues and mechanical composition elucidate ancient Physiography, and has led to the wide and active pursuit of this line of work. He has written standard works on sands, and papers marked by insight and originality on the stratigraphy of East Anglia and Wales. As Geological Advisor to the Mersey Tunnel he has aided an important engineering enterprise. He has contributed many memoirs to geological journals, and three memoirs for the Geological Survey. |
