| Citation | Distinguished for researches in Refrigeration and Strength of Materials. Has published papers on the 'Thermal Properties of Carbonic Acid' (Phil Trans, 1913; 1915; Proceedings, 1920; 1921) and 'Ethyl Chloride' (Special Report No 14 of the Food Investigation Board). During the war was in charge of Materials for the Air Board. His 'Report on Materials of Construction used in Aircraft, etc,' records a large amount of research done under his direction. Has recently made important advances in the testing of materials under alternating stresses of very high frequencies (Proceedings, 1923 and 1925.) |
