Title | Trevan, John William: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Dr. Trevan has made important contributions to the study of biological standardisation and to the action of drugs in the body. His paper (1927) on "The Error of Determination of Toxicity" had a worldwide influence on the approach of pharmacologists to these problems and his introduction of the L.D.50 to replace the minimal lethal dose has made possible rapid progress in the biological standardisation of many therapeutic substances. His wise and unselfish direction and inspiration of research base on a wide and comprehensive knowledge have been largely responsible for the contributions to research of the laboratories of which he is the distinguished Director. |
