| Citation | Formerly Chief Geologist Australasian Petroleum Company: Geological Adviser to Triad Oil Co. Calgary, Alberta and President B.P. Exploration Co. (Alaska). His U.K. publications deal with stratigraphical and structural problems in the East Midlands, East Anglia and Southern England. His map of the pre-Permian surface of England and Wales is of prime importance. Has also published on Persian stratigraphical and salt plug problems. Unpublished reports on his company's files total 72. His official work has taken him to Persia, East Africa (where his recognition of great thicknesses of sediment in the coastal areas formed the basis of an exploration drilling campaign) Papua, Canada and other countries. In all his investigations he shows great insight into the problems. In 1955 the Geological Society awarded him the Bigsby Medal. |
